2017 Dec - Curtain donation to children’s ward 15B

•    Project duration: Dec 2017 to Jan 2018.
•    Recipients: Ward 15B, under Consultant Dr. Mahendra Somatilaka.
•    Total donation value: LKR 35 800 (not including donated tailoring workmanship).
•    Total money collection: LKR 40 000 (in 20 units of LKR 2000).
•    Items: Curtains for 20 windows with “children’s theme”, 142 yards of curtain cloth. other material such as hooks, and beadings were used.

This is our first project, started in late 2017 and completed in January 2018. Ward 15B had their window curtains in unusable state, with many torn and broken.

We had an extremely positive response from our friends. The target of LKR 40 000 was collected within a week. Many friends joined in finding proper economical curtain material, it turned out to be not an easy task! A friend helped us with tailoring totally free of charge. Many volunteers joined in installation. All the related expenses around the donation event, such as transport, are born by the volunteer participants. Dedication of our members resulted in a project that costs LKR 35 800, but the real commercial value is much more.

We are confident that the new curtains make a pleasant environment for inpatient children.
